From exploring the country’s rich landscapes to working with local communities, we’ve always believed in the power of sustainable tourism. Today, we bring together our skills in business, travel, and technology to make sure every journey is meaningful, ethical, and impactful.

Co-founder & CEO

Mauro Ramírez Azofeifa

Mauro is a co-founder of GreenTico. Born and raised in Palmichal, a rural community in San José, he grew up immersed in rural tourism, developing a deep understanding of community-driven travel, sustainability, and economic empowerment. With a Bachelor’s in Human Ecology from the College of the Atlantic and a Master’s in Entrepreneurial Leadership from Babson College, Mauro specializes in building strategic partnerships, designing impactful travel programs, and driving responsible tourism initiatives. He has collaborated with universities, conservation groups, and local businesses, ensuring tourism benefits both travelers and host communities.

Co-founder & Program Developer

Mónica Ramírez Azofeifa

Mónica is a co-founder of GreenTico. Born and raised in a rural community of San José, she developed a passion for education and community well-being from an early age. After completing her primary and secondary education at Colegio Humboldt, she earned her Bachelor’s and Licentiate degrees in Early Childhood Education from the University of Costa Rica. Currently teaching in the public education system of Hamburg, Germany, Mónica focuses on holistic child development and active family involvement. With her deep understanding of school programs and institutional needs, she plays a key role in designing and presenting educational experiences to potential partners. She combines her expertise as an educator with strong skills in logistics coordination, ensuring that every visitor’s experience is seamlessly organized and enriching.

Manager & Technical Operations

Pietro Giacomin

Pietro is the Manager and Technical Operations Lead at GreenTico. Born and raised in San José, but deeply connected to Esterillos Beach, he grew up spending weekends with his family exploring the region. This experience shaped his passion for innovation and travel, driving his mission to integrate technology and sustainability in the tourism industry. With a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from Colorado College, Pietro specializes in software development, IT systems, and digital transformation. As GreenTico’s Manager, he combines his technical expertise and leadership to optimize operations, enhance user experiences, and drive innovative, tech-enabled sustainable tourism.
